Last Friday evening the Dallas Museum of Art hosted their monthly Friday Late Night (3rd Friday of the Month, open til midnight). It was so incredibly exciting to see thousands (literally thousands) of people of ALL ages walking up and down the corridors, enjoying the music, food, exhibits and all the fun and interesting activities the DMA has put together. I was so impressed! With the Gaultier exhibit closing in a few weeks there were tons of women dressed up in the most fabulous avante-garde outfits...so fun to see so many people expressing themselves this way. Above is a picture I captured of a girl who had Diet Coke cans as rollers. Too fun!

Tonight, our much beloved Dallas jazz musician, Hunter Sullivan and his magnificent 14-piece orchestra will perform a FREE concert on the plaza to raise funds for the recent vicitims of Japan. The concert will start at 6:30 pm and run until 9:30 pm. The plaza will be closed off for pedestrian-only use and valet will be rerouted. Donations to the Tsunami Relief Fund will be accepted throughout the evening and can also be made online on the Dallas Japanese Association's website. It's free, it's open to the public and it's for a great cause. Slated for an early April opening, the much anticipated arrival of a new restaruant will add a new flavor to the plaza...The Commissary. John Tesar, five-star chef formerly with The Mansion, will open a wine and burger bar & bistro. And get this...it's going to feature wine on tap! How fun. Apparently it's the new thing and we'll have it here at One Arts Plaza. The menu will feature a variety of tasty, grass-fed beef burgers in addition to small plates (think gourmet cheese cart & salumi - y.u.m.). Pour into shaker with ice: 1 ounce Cazadores Reposado Tequila, 1/2 ounce of Pumpkin Spice Batoni Italian Liquor, 1/2 ounce Grand Mariner, a sprinkle of Splenda, a dash fresh squeezed lime juice (one wedge). Sorry guys, we've been absent a while but we're back & psyched with this ah-mazing Fall weather! Our patios are full of people sitting back, relaxing, enjoying the sunshine and fountains and cool breeze. We've got live music now every Thurs - Sat evening (7-10 pm) for the rest of October and throughout November and we'll pick a few dates in December depending on weather.

Okay, so mark your calendars for our second Fall Block Party on Halloween, from 11 am - 3 pm. We'll have the plaza closed off for pedestrian use only (love since hardly anywhere in Dallas do you find this), some live music, farmers market vendors, artists, cooking demos and this time we're spicing it up with a CHEF COOK OFF at noon and then a BARTENDER MIX OFF at 1:30 pm. We'll have a panel of judges but everyone will also be availble to try samples and vote. It's FREE (restaurants of course will be selling food as well) and it's in the beautiful Arts District which will also be full of life with events taking place at each of the major institutions (face painting, choir sing-offs, live outdoor performances, food carts, oragami making, films, + more). PaperCity Photo Shoot - September Issue

Here's a sneak peak of a fun photoshoot we did a few weeks ago. We gathered several agents on the pool rooftop of One Arts Plaza for an ad we're working on in the upcoming September issue. It was a perfect summer evening with a soft warm breeze (luckily the sizzling heat had died down - whew) and the sun had just set over the horizon leaving behind soft hues of blues, greys and soft pinks. Take a look at this magnificent, high-arching, double rainbow that sprung from some pots of gold in east Dallas a few weeks ago. Featured are eight Dallas hot spots they recommend to check out when visiting this "much-misunderstood town". If you haven't yet been you MUST check out Tei-An's authentic Japanese food including their delicious white seaweed salad (one of my favorites) and healthy, home-made soba noodles. In this month's issue, one of our very own residents', Lucilo Pena and Lee Cobb's penthouse got a glamorous six-page feature. Very exciting stuff! Lucilo is President of Development for Billingsley Company and therefore was very involved in this project. So much so in fact that he and his partner Lee decided to relocate from their home in Uptown to the 24th floor with a 3,400-square foot two-bedroom penthouse. Designed in tandem with the building's architect, Lionel Morrison, the result is a classically modern, spacious home with window walls that take in magnificent city views. Drum roll please.........one of our very own plaza musicians, Casey James, has made it as one of the top 24 contestants on American Idol! His talent and dedication are getting him the recognition he deserves (am sure his charm and good looks don't hurt either).

Spring music on the plaza is scheduled to resume in April, once the weather warms up and patios are alive bustling with people. We'll have a variety of live musicians performing so you can sit outside and enjoy our dynamic fountains, delicious food and refreshing cocktails.
