Dine Around: Tei An
I'd like to throw out a special thank you to Teiichi for a wonderful meal on Wednesday. A co-worker and I worked late at the Plaza and decided to continue our personal dine-around. I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture, so Tei An was my first choice. The setting was serene, the lighting perfect, and gentle lounge music completed the mood. I love a restaurant where you can have a conversation with the person next to you without having to raise your voice.
Teiichi came out and greeted us and talked a little shop, then we let him pick our meal. It was fantastic. I'm not a food critic, so my descriptions would sound ridiculous. However, I highly recommend what we had: white seaweed salad, tuna tartar, beef on the rock (melts in your mouth), whitefish tempura, and then finish it off with some curry soba noodles. The only thing missing at Tei An are little beds where you could nap until you're hungry again.

Had Breakfast at Jorge's
Yeah, I'm one of those weird guys who takes photos of his food.
I was doing a little work out at the Plaza, and realized that I'd been up for almost four hours without eating. What the heck, let's grab some breakfast at Jorge's. I'm sure it's "pretty good".
Does the phrase "blown away" mean anything to you? Yeah, they were that good. I ordered the three soft, flour tortillas with egg, cheese and chorizo. The tacos are Texas-size and chocked full of egg & chorizo. Then on the side they offer a small cup of ranchero salsa--a green tomato style salsa that was the perfect spice mix. All next to a bed of fried potatoes, tomatoes and jalapenos; with refried beans in case you somehow have any room left. Oh, and did I mention they stack two pieces of bacon on top of the whole thing? Holy smokes! All I could think of was that line from Pulp Fiction, "bacon tastes goooood".
I have to admit I couldn't finish all of mine--but i still had some dessert. They were kind enough to treat me to a delicious sopapilla, covered with powdered sugar and a side of honey. Mmmmm!!!
Gracias, Elizabeth!

Jorge's Post-Turkey Day Brunch
You know that weird hump day right after Thanksgiving? The day where you're stuck with a house full of relatives, and you have to sit and listen to your uncle tell that story about the time he was lost in the jungle with only a compass and a Swiss Army knife while your cousins devour the last remains of the pumpkin pie. Don't you wish you could get out of the house and do something fun this year?
Well Jorge's is coming to your rescue with a special Post-Turkey Day Brunch. From 8am to 4pm you can come in and get $6 bottomless mimosas (with entrée) and $7 Jorge's martinis all day. Make your reservations now. Then tell your cousins you have to run out to get more Cool Whip.

November Events
It's an election year. That means we've all been thoroughly bludgeoned by campaign ads, flashy CNN logos, annoying conspiracy emails and SNL skits. So now that it's almost over, let's get back to thinking about what makes us really happy— Going out on the town, of course!
We've added some great shows to our calendar including the varied styles of Goga, the rock-pop sound of the Josh Goode Band, and the classic-country talents of the Casey James Band.
