On Tuesday evening, One Arts Plaza hosted an artist reception
for Willie Baronet, the visionary behind the WE ARE ALL HOMELESS project. His
project, on display in the One Arts Plaza lobby, consists of hundreds of
homeless signs, which he has bought and collected while traveling across the
United States. Its purpose is to challenge beliefs on what it means to be
homeless. Is home a physical place of comfort and safety? Or is it a place of
emotional security and identity?
The reception was met with positive response. Viewers enjoyed
bites from One Arts Plaza’s restaurant Proof + Pantry and champagne from
Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut NV. In addition to hearing from Baronet,
Teresa Hiser and Dr. David Woody with The Bridge and Sherri Ansley with the
Housing Crisis Center shared information about their organizations and the work
they do with the homeless community.
Guests also left messages on the interactive display describing what
home means to them.
If you missed out on the reception, stop by the One Arts
Plaza to see Baronet’s WE ARE ALL HOMELESS installation now on display until
October 4, 2015. You can also join us on next Wednesday, September 23 from 6pm
– 8pm for a special Artist Talk.
Viewers observe the installation while enjoying snacks provided by Proof + Pantry.
Artist Willie Baronet discusses his work process.
